How to Create and Set Up a Google Email Address with Your Domain Name

A professional email on your own domain builds trust and keeps your brand consistent. The most common choice is Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), which lets you use Gmail with your custom domain.

If you still need a domain or hosting, start with How to Choose a Domain Name? and How to Connect a Domain Name to Your Hosting Account.

Setup checklist

  1. Create a Google Workspace account

Go to the Google Workspace signup page and choose the plan that fits your needs. You can start with one user and add more later.

  2. Add your domain

During signup, enter the domain you already own (for example, yourdomain.com).

  3. Verify domain ownership

Google will provide a TXT record. Add this TXT record in your DNS panel (registrar or DNS provider) to verify ownership.

  4. Create your email address

Choose your email prefix (for example, [email protected]) and set a strong password.

  5. Update MX records

Replace your existing MX records with Google?s MX records so email is delivered to Gmail. Remove old MX records to avoid conflicts.

  6. Set up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC

Add these TXT records to improve deliverability and protect your domain from spoofing.

  7. Wait for DNS propagation

Changes typically take minutes to a few hours. Sometimes it can take up to 24-48 hours.

  8. Sign in to Gmail

Go to mail.google.com and sign in with your new email address.

  9. Optional: add aliases and users

Create aliases like info@ or sales@, and add team members as needed.

Once MX and security records are set, your new Google email works like Gmail but with your own domain.
